I saw this and squealed a little bit inside. Mainly because I’m now imagining Bowie discussing Sherlock with Duncan. Also because two of my babies love each other a little bit.
if you ever run out of ideas for historical figures to be featured on the show and who should play them, I can suggest a few:
Andrew Scott as Harry Houdini
“What kind of illusion have you employed for this….box?” Houdini asked, his eyes scanning the TARDIS in bewilderment.
“I knew he’d say that” The Doctor whispered, triumphantly.
Clémence Poésy as Joan of Arc
“I serve no men” she gritted out through a particularly tense jaw, her hand clutching instinctively at her sword.
“Neither do I!” The Doctor chimed enthusiastically, shaking her hand as he admired her armor, “See? We already have a lot in common!”
Colin Firth as Beethoven
“What kind of Doctor did you say you were? I already saw two otolaryngologists this week” he pauses, playing with his cuffs anxiously before he moves on, “Unless you’re a Doctor for the mad-“
“Oh, he’s mad alright” Amy added before she could help herself, “Doctor Mad. Brilliantly Stupid Doctor Mad. I’m sorry that makes no sense, I can’t believe we’re talking to Beethoven right now…”
Day 11: What actor would you love to see gust star on Doctor Who?
shuddapIn an interview, Colin has said that he would love nothing more than to play a villain on Doctor Who which I think would be brilliant. He so often plays the bumbling British gentleman, except for the films you never see because they had such a small budget, were about the 60s and significant issues *cough*singleman*coughcough*. To see him play a genuine bad guy WITH CACKLE and SWOOPY COATS would be splendid. Magnificent. Fantastic. And completely wonderful.
MAKE IT SO, BBC. It’s not like he’d live that far from Cardiff, anyway.
Miranda Hart has been told she can’t swap her joke shop for the Tardis any time soon - by her bosses at the BBC.
The award-winning actress is said to be “gutted” since hearing the news, and despite rumours she could become The Doctor’s new assistant, Beeb chiefs have put a block on any role.
Doctor Who boss Steven Moffat is said to have offered her a “significant role”.
Insiders told The Sun BBC One controller Danny Cohen has insisted she concentrate on hit show Miranda, which is moving across from BBC Two to his channel.
A source said: “Miranda was thrilled to be asked to be on Doctor Who.
“Steven offered her a decent role and she felt, as it was on the BBC, there would be no problem.
“But the BBC One controller let it be known that he wants her focused on her show, which he has nabbed from BBC Two. Miranda’s gutted as she feels she could do both.”
The actress, with Time Lord Matt Smith, is one of Britain’s best-loved stars. She won three gongs at the British Comedy Awards in January - and was presented with the coveted People’s Choice Award by former Doctor Who star David Tennant.
Insiders claim it’s the latest evidence of bad blood between Cohen and Moffat. The pair allegedly fell out amid claims that only a few Doctor Who episodes will air next year because Moffat would be too busy with his other hit, Sherlock.
Miranda said: “I am a massive fan of Doctor Who, so was incredibly flattered to be asked to be part of it but with series three of Miranda happening next year it was never going to be possible as I am focusing entirely on the sitcom.”
