I saw this and squealed a little bit inside. Mainly because I’m now imagining Bowie discussing Sherlock with Duncan. Also because two of my babies love each other a little bit.
Another day, another Doctor Who rumour from the Daily Star. This time they are reporting that The Girl in the Fireplace herself, Sophia Myles, is being lined up for next companion.
This seems to be based on a solitary tweet from Steven Moffat. Earlier in the week, Myles joined the Twitter-verse and Moffat said: “Right EVERYBODY who follows me, go and follow @SophiaMyles – spin that fireplace. NOW.”
Adding: “I’ll explain later. Or not.”
It’s hardly conclusive. But then Myles began dropping possible hints of her own responding: “Watch this (fire)place,” she said. “The plot thickens…”
While we don’t think Myles is going to be the companion, could a timey wimey return for Madame De Pompadour be on the cards?
They’re Twitter-corresponded a couple of times when she joined, making jokes about the ‘fucking’ fireplace. She could even be playing a completely new character.

I found a brush-pen!! So little crossover drawings happened. Here’s another one:
Among those there were me, my wife Elizabeth, David [Tennant], Georgia [Moffett], my two sons, and, of course, Steven [Moffat] himself. Halfway through the meal, my son Joel, who was about eight then, piped up, ‘Dad, should I hang a sign on the front door saying, knock if you want an autograph?’ He was right — there would have been Doctor Who fans queuing ‘round the block if they’d known we were all there.

Does anyone have a cannon? It would be ironic to take him down with one. Just saying.

Here’s a particularly stupid theory. If we take “The Doctor” to be the Doctor’s name—even if it is in the form of a title no doubt meaning something deep and Gallifreyan—perhaps our earthly use of the word “doctor” meaning healer or wise man is direct result of the Doctor’s multiple interventions in our history as a healer and wise man. In other words, we got it from him. This is a very silly idea and I’m consequently rather proud of it.
