Neil Gaiman’s personal library. A little book porn for all of you readers out there. Via Reddit.
- NG wants to novelize The Doctor’s Wife into a novella because he loved the Doctor Who books/magazines/annuals growing up
- He had a total powertrip while writing for Doctor Who. He described it as being “somewhere between someone with a volcano and a secret base and GOD.”
- He was rather upset he couldn’t incorporate all the aspects of Classic Who into The Doctor’s Wife and was always rather enamored of the TARDIS’s food-making machine that could “make a Mars bar that tasted like bacon and eggs”

I don’t know if I’m ever going to get to write another Doctor Who. So I want everything in it. So I want one that got scary bits in it. And I want it funny. And I want it to have exciting chasing bits. And, I want it to make you cry. And, I want it to make you happy even though you’re crying. And, I want it to do things that you’ve never done before. And if I can, I’d like to do a few moments where you go: ‘I don’t even- Can you do that? Can you it that Doctor Who?’ Well, suppose he just did.

This is my piece of fan fiction.

A cascade of energy pours out of Idris’ mouth, a twinkling mass of pure energy. It fades into the room. The lights in the TARDIS control room begin to flicker and change, as if half of the room is lit by golden light, the rest is still the greenish glow. The lights are chasing each other around the control room. The green glow is being vanquished by the golden light. Then the control room goes dark. A beat.
Idris/TARDIS: Doctor, are you there? It’s so very dark in here.
Doctor: I’m here.
